Thought I'd throw up a post in here to see if: A.) anyone here is even old enough to remember the movie & B.) if it influenced anyone's decision to work with computers for a living. Before anyone whines that it presented an absolute farcical depiction of hacking, there aren't any Hollywood movies that ever have, at least none that come to my mind. IMHO, what hackers actually *do* would be pretty dern boring, in the scope of a 2-hour movie; it'd take three times that long to portray it in a manner that a general audience could even understand. At any rate, I thought it's going to be cool to watch the thing on the big screen again, and check out the (now) antique gear that they used in the movie.

Re: Chance To Catch War Games (Original Movie), Coming To A Theater Near You!
Wed, July 23, 2008 - 12:00 PMBut hacking looked so cool in Swordfish!
All the buzz around WarGames had an influence on me, but I've never actually seen it. It is why, however, I have an acoustic-coupler sitting on my desk here at work....
